Let's go Pens!

With every win the Penguins rack up on the road to the Stanley Cup, playoff fever continues to catch on more and more across the BURGH! You can quote me later, "We have to win". "There's only one outcome possible for Sunday - victory.

It seems fans have one goal in mind for their favorite hockey team or at least this fan does. I would like to see the Pittsburgh Penguins win the Stanley Cup that would be cool. What is funny is while the Pens battled the Rangers in front of another sold out, excited crowd inside Mellon Arena; in what seems to be a new tradition, many more fans gathered outside to watch the game on an LCD big screen. The crowd outside was estimated to be at several thousand more then the numbers of fans in PNC park watching the worst baseball team Friday night.

In the end, the Penguins racked up another win, with a 2-0 victory over the Rangers, to build momentum going into Game 3, and fans couldn't have been happier. The Penguins are set to play the Rangers in Game 3 on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in New York

If you can help Connie

From a email: Hello Friends and Family! Here's the latest update on our efforts to find Buffy:Dad and Carolyn went down this week and picked up all three kids and met Bill (Buffy's estranged husband) at the house so the kids could get some of their clothes and personal items. It went well. The kids were quiet, no one even tried to talk about Bethanie. Dad told them he would keep in touch and the kids can call them anytime.Dad's last contact from the sheriff's office on Friday stated they have nothing new to report. They are still interviewing people. They have not ruled anyone out, but have no definite suspect(s). They had a helicopter out and boats on the river again and will do so at least once a week.A wonderful article was written about Buffy in the Ithaca Journal this past week.

It definitely captures her personality and how much she's loved by all. If you get a chance check it out and post a comment. Dad already posted. We're all still searching and handing out flyers. If you're interested in helping out in those areas call Dad at 315-697-7050 for search efforts or Will at 315-520-0270 for flyer info. Thanks everyone for all your help and concern. Keep praying and sending those good vibes. Buffy needs us and we need you!Big hugs!Connie

Go go Pittsburgh Penguins!

Evgeni Malkin and Jarko Ruutu scored second-period goals, leading the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 3-1 win over the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday night to complete a four-game sweep of their first-round series. Sidney Crosby scored into an empty net with 7.5 seconds remaining and had an assist, and Marc-Andre Fleury made 21 saves for Pittsburgh, which got its first sweep in 16 years and its first playoff series win since 2001. Cory Stillman scored for Ottawa, which was swept out of the first round for the third time in its 11 consecutive playoff appearances. The sweep was a measure of revenge for the young Penguins, who were knocked out of last year's playoffs in five games by the Senators. Ottawa went on to make its first Stanley Cup finals appearance in modern franchise history, losing in five to Anaheim. The Penguins also became the first team to advance to the second round. Pittsburgh will face Boston, if the Bruins overcome their 3-1 series deficit against Montreal to advance, or the winner of the New Jersey-New York Rangers series. Injured Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson played his second straight game and was reunited with linemates Jason Spezza and Dany Heatley, but it wasn't enough. Malkin scored his second goal of the playoffs 1:40 into the second. The 21-year-old Russian opened the scoring during the Penguins' second power-play opportunity as he flicked his own rebound past Martin Gerber with a one-handed backhand on a setup by Crosby. Stillman brought the sold-out Scotiabank Place crowd of 19,954 to life midway through the period when he tied it at 1. Stillman pushed a loose puck at the right edge of the crease slowly into the goal at 10:31 for his second goal of the playoffs. Ruutu restored Pittsburgh's lead for good at 15:28 with a sensational individual effort after he was sent in on Gerber by Tyler Kennedy. With Senators defenseman Brian Lee in pursuit, Ruutu drove the net and stopped with a turn to the left as he spun around to avoid Lee, beating Gerber with a hard backhand along the ice and between the Ottawa goalies pads. An apparent tying goal by Ottawa's Antoine Vermette late in the second was reviewed and disallowed because he kicked it in with his right foot. Pittsburgh, which had lost its last three playoff series since a second-round win over Buffalo in 2001, hadn't swept since consecutive sweeps of Boston and Chicago on its way to its second straight Stanley Cup in 1992. The Senators got off to an NHL record 15-2 start, then struggled through the rest of the regular season, barely hanging on to one of the final playoff berths in the East after general manager Bryan Murray fired head coach John Paddock to move back behind the bench himself.

Girl Watching 101 in Costa Rica

During my three trips to Costa Rica one of the most enjoyable things I do is watching the country's abundance of beautiful women. I often wonder how one small country can have so many attractive women. I asked my friends if my perception was distorted. They all agreed that Costa Rica Rica abounds with some of the most gorgeous women on the planet. So where can you see Costa Rica's natural beauties or should I say natural wonders? The answer is, almost anywhere.

Now I know why Heredia is called "The City of the Flowers." The area around the campus of the University of Costa Rica in San Pedro is also good. Fantastic indoor sports for observing Costa Rican women are the many malls in San Jose or the adjacent suburbs. So my hat goes off to Costa rica...

Looking forwards to my next trip...

Blood in the water

The sharks smell blood in the water and oh how they are circling! Yes my bank, the job i enjoy is ... well wounded by the subprime fall out and the sharks are circling. In the last week three reports from the AP press all report other banks in talks for a piece of our action.

Troubling times in the banking world but hey as my manager once explained, he been in banking all his life and he saw four mergers... that's just the nature of the banking industry. The good thing is one bank is the same as the next so you learn a job and do it well you can easily transition to the next bank. And so I wait... wait for the next bank but I still have hope we will stay whom we are ... our own.
