I can't wait for football season to start again because last night I watched Paul Maholm stay on the mound one batter too many. That must have been how it looked to the 23,118 in attendance last night at PNC Park. They loudly booed manager Jim Tracy when he emerged from the dugout after the damage had been done in the Pirates' modern-record 13th consecutive loss, 4-3 to the Chicago White Sox.

And it surely was the view of the throaty fan who shouted from the upper deck in the aftermath, "Tracy lost this game!" But the opinion was not shared by those most intensely involved.
